Senegal national football coach Thiav leaves position
Senegal's head coach Thiav has stepped down after the team's World Cup exit. His assistants have also been dismissed. Under Thiav, Senegal won the Africa Cup of Nations but later had the title stripped.

Senegal's national football team head coach Thiav has left his position following the team's elimination from the World Cup. His assistants have also been relieved of their duties.
The 45-year-old Senegalese coach took over the national team in 2024. Under his leadership, Senegal won the Africa Cup of Nations this year, but the title was later revoked and awarded to Morocco after an appeals court overturned Senegal's victory in the chaotic January final.
In the World Cup, Senegal started the group stage with two losses, falling to France (1:3) and Norway (2:3), before thrashing Iraq 5:0 in the third match. In the first knockout round, Senegal lost 2:3 to Belgium after extra time.
