Rainy, cooler weather forecast for Latvia in early September
Low atmospheric pressure will bring mostly rainy weather to Latvia in the first week of September, with temperatures gradually dropping. Forecasters also warn of thunderstorms and stronger winds later in the week.
After a cyclone passed over Latvia over the weekend bringing rain to many areas, atmospheric pressure will remain low in the coming days. As a result, the start of September will be mostly rainy, while maximum air temperatures will gradually decrease, signaling the approach of autumn.
Warm but changeable start to the week
On Monday, skies will be partly cloudy with brief clearing. Overnight into Monday, most areas can expect short spells of rain, with thunderstorms possible in some places, while daytime rain will be lighter. Wind will blow from the south and southwest at a light to moderate pace, reaching gusts of up to 15 metres per second along the coast. Daytime temperatures will reach +19 to +23 degrees, with the eastern regions warming up to +25 degrees.
Thunderstorms expected on Knowledge Day
Tuesday and Wednesday will bring similar conditions, with only occasional sunshine and rain continuing in most areas. Heavy downpours and thunderstorms are expected on the afternoon of September 1, with thunder still possible overnight into Wednesday. From Wednesday, winds will strengthen, blowing from the west and southwest, becoming gusty along the coast during the day. Nighttime temperatures will range from +12 to +16 degrees, while daytime air will warm to +17-22 degrees.
Cooler and wetter by the weekend
Towards the end of the working week, bands of precipitation will continue moving across the country, with daytime temperatures averaging around +20 degrees. Over the weekend, temperatures will drop a few more degrees, rain is forecast across the entire country, and winds will become gustier.
