The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre has released a summary of weather conditions for the first ten days of September, revealing notable deviations from the long-term climate norm.

Rainfall more than double the norm

According to the compiled data, precipitation during the first decade of September reached 247% of the norm across the country. This means the country received nearly two and a half times the amount of rain typically expected for this time of year.

Temperature 1.5 degrees above average

At the same time, average air temperature during this period was also higher than usual — about 1.5 degrees above the norm. As a result, early September in Latvia was marked by both unusually high moisture levels and relatively warmer air compared to long-term averages.
