Serbian President Vučić says he will resign within weeks
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced on Saturday that he will resign in the coming weeks, paving the way for early presidential and parliamentary elections.

Aleksandar Vučić, the President of Serbia, announced on Saturday that he plans to step down within weeks, speaking at a rally of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) in Belgrade. He stated that these are his last days and weeks as president, and that he will resign afterwards. His second and final term was originally set to expire in 2027.
The announcement comes amid persistent student-led anti-corruption protests, which have been demanding early elections since the deaths of 16 people in November 2024, when a railway station roof collapsed in Novi Sad. Frequent violent clashes between police and protesters have been reported.
