Alan Ritchson, star of the TV series "Reacher," and his wife Catherine Ritchson have announced they are divorcing after 20 years of marriage. The 43-year-old actor and his wife shared the news in a joint post on Instagram on Saturday, September 12.
The couple said that after two decades together, they have decided to end their marriage but will remain part of each other's lives in a different way. The Ritchsons are raising three sons together – Callum, Edan and Amory – and stated in their announcement that their children will remain their top priority going forward. They said the best thing they can now give each other and their sons is friendship, respect and a commitment to being the best possible parents.
The couple also asked the public to respect their family's privacy, noting that such changes are difficult enough without added outside attention.
Divorce filed last year
Citing court documents, the outlet TMZ reports that Ritchson had already filed for divorce in December 2025. This past March, the couple reportedly attempted to reconcile before ultimately deciding to proceed with the divorce.
Alan and Catherine first met during their school years, and their paths crossed again later while Catherine was studying at the University of Florida. They married on May 12, 2006.
While the family has largely kept their private life out of the spotlight, Ritchson has previously spoken publicly on social media about his love and admiration for his wife. In 2025, marking their 19th wedding anniversary, he called Catherine one of the greatest gifts of his life and described his family as his greatest achievement. However, this past May, when the couple reached their 20th anniversary, no public greeting from the actor followed.
