Cult 90s series "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" turns 30 in 2026

A whole generation growing up in the late 1990s and early 2000s remembers watching the American comedy series "Sabrina the Teenage Witch." The show was also well loved among Latvian audiences and became one of the most popular teen series of its era.

At the center of the story is teenager Sabrina Spellman, who discovers on her 16th birthday that she is a witch. From that point on, she must juggle school, friendships and her first love while also learning to control her newly discovered magical powers.

Family and comic relief

Sabrina received support from her two eccentric witch aunts, Hilda and Zelda, who helped guide her through the rules of the witching world. Much of the show's humor, meanwhile, came from the family's talking cat, Salem, who became one of its most memorable characters.

A thirtieth anniversary

The series premiered in the United States on September 27, 1996. That means in 2026, "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" will mark a full 30 years since its first episode aired.
