Sherman: Path to New Iran Nuclear Deal Still Uncertain

Wendy Sherman, lead U.S. negotiator on the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, discussed in an NPR interview the road ahead for efforts to strike a new agreement to end the Iran war.

NPR has published an interview with Wendy Sherman, the lead U.S. negotiator for the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement. In the conversation, Sherman weighed in on what comes next for American negotiators as they seek to reach a new deal to end the conflict with Iran.

Speaking with NPR host Ailsa Chang, Sherman analyzed the prospects for a new agreement based on her previous experience. She was one of the key architects of the 2015 nuclear deal, which was later abandoned, and now U.S. officials are attempting to chart a different course.

Although Sherman did not predict an easy path, she indicated that diplomacy remains possible. The questions addressed both the strengths and weaknesses of the previous deal, as well as what the U.S. might do differently this time.

The full interview is available on NPR's website, where Sherman shares her views on what lies ahead for the U.S. and Iran in the coming weeks and months.
