Sesks explains Finland crash: car looks worse than it actually is
Mārtiņš Sesks has commented on his crash at Rally Finland, saying the car may look in worse shape than it is. He has not ruled out returning to the stages on Sunday.
Latvian rally driver Mārtiņš Sesks has explained his spectacular crash at Rally Finland. He said the corner where he went off was different compared to a year ago – previously it could be taken flat out, but this time there was a small hole on the inside. Sesks hit it, the car rotated too much and the trajectory was far from ideal.
The driver said he did not see the ditch on the inside of the corner. After catching the inner wheel, the car began to roll. Despite the dramatic incident, Sesks stressed that he is fine and the car’s wheels are all straight. The crew managed to drive out of the stage on their own. He added that the car probably looks worse than it actually is.
Now everything is in the hands of the team, which must determine whether the car can be prepared for the rest of the rally. Sesks has not ruled out returning to the track on Sunday. The final day of Rally Finland features two stages, with the 30.02-kilometre distance repeated twice. A video shows Sesks crashing into Finnish trees at high speed in a scary accident.
