Sesks and Francis return after crash with eighth-fastest time at Rally Finland
Mārtiņš Sesks and Renārs Francis posted the eighth-fastest time on Sunday's 19th stage of Finland's WRC round, returning after a Saturday crash.
Latvian rally crew with driver Mārtiņš Sesks and co-driver Renārs Francis achieved the eighth-fastest time in the 19th stage of the Finland round of the World Rally Championship (WRC) on Sunday. The crew returned after crashing on Saturday, which forced them to skip the remaining two stages of that day. M-Sport Ford mechanics managed to repair their car in time for the final two stages.
The 19th of 20 stages was 30 kilometers long. Sweden's Oliver Solberg (Toyota Gazoo) set the fastest time, beating his teammate Elfyn Evans by 2.9 seconds. The Latvian crew was 38.3 seconds behind Solberg, which gave them eighth place in the stage.
In the overall standings before the final stage, Finland's Sami Pajari (Toyota Gazoo) remained the leader, holding a 36.4-second advantage over Solberg. Prior to the crash, after 13 stages, the Latvian crew had been fifth overall behind four Toyota Gazoo cars, but after the accident they are no longer able to fight for high positions in the overall classification.
The final stage of Rally Finland is scheduled to start at 13:15, with live coverage available on Go3 Sport 1. Two weeks earlier, the Latvian crew finished seventh at Rally Estonia.
