On Saturday, March 8, 2025, eight drivers were apprehended in Latvia for driving under the influence of alcohol. Seven cases involved alcohol concentration exceeding 1.5 promille, resulting in criminal proceedings. One case led to an administrative process.
Breakdown by region: Zemgale – three, Rīga – two, Kurzeme and Latgale – one each. Two drivers will have their vehicles confiscated, while five will have to compensate the vehicle's value.
During the past 24 hours, a total of 431 administrative decisions were made in road traffic, including 175 for speeding. Speeding offenses were most common in Vidzeme, with 63 violations.
