Five Drunk Drivers Caught on Saturday; Two Cars to Be Confiscated, Three to Pay Vehicle Value
On Saturday, Latvian police caught five severely intoxicated drivers, all with over 1.5 per mille blood alcohol content, leading to criminal proceedings. Two of them will have their cars confiscated, while three will be required to pay the vehicle's value.

Last Saturday, July 12, the State Police reported that five drivers were caught driving under the influence of alcohol, with alcohol concentration exceeding 1.5 per mille in breath. Criminal proceedings were initiated in all five cases. Among these, three incidents occurred in the Riga region, one in Vidzeme, and one in Latgale. Two drivers will have their cars confiscated, and the other three will be forced to pay the value of their vehicles. Additionally, six administrative proceedings were launched for drunk driving offenses: three in Zemgale, two in the Riga region, and one in Vidzeme.
