Sevilla scores late to hand Valencia another defeat

In the fifth round of Spain's La Liga, Sevilla defeated a struggling Valencia side 1-0 on home turf, with the first half ending goalless.
Sevilla started the match more aggressively but failed to create clear-cut chances against Valencia's goal. In one incident, Juan Iglesias spent a long time on the pitch after a collision with an opponent, but the referee, after consulting VAR officials, decided not to award Valencia a penalty.
Midway through the first half, Valencia suffered a setback when Cesar Tarrega had to leave the pitch injured, replaced by Iker Cordoba. Near the end of the first half, Kike Salas had a dangerous chance following a well-placed cross, but failed to score, and the teams went into the break at 0-0.
Second half
Sevilla continued to dominate proceedings in the second half, but the score remained unchanged for a long stretch. Just as the match appeared headed for a scoreless draw, Iglesias scored with a header from a set piece in the 81st minute, securing the win for his team.
With this result, Sevilla moves up to third place in the overall standings, while Valencia remains at the bottom of the table in last, 20th place. The fifth round continues with several more fixtures, including Real Madrid's upcoming match against Rayo Vallecano and Barcelona's away trip to Levante.
