Season Finale Brings Two New Plays: Dailes and Valmiera Theatres
Latvian theatres close the season with two premieres: at Dailes Theatre, Valters Sīlis’s “Order No. 2” debuted with politicians in attendance, while Elmārs Seņkovs’s version of “Skroderdienas Silmačos” at Valmiera Theatre has divided audiences.

As the theatre season draws to a close, two significant premieres have taken place on Latvian stages.
At the Dailes Theatre, director Valters Sīlis presented his play “Order No. 2” in the presence of active politicians. The content of the play and the political involvement have drawn public attention.
Meanwhile, at the Valmiera Theatre, director Elmārs Seņkovs offered his own version of the classic play “Skroderdienas Silmačos” (The Tailor Days at Silmači). As expected, the new production has sparked contrasting reactions – audience opinions are split into two camps. Some praise the renewed perspective, while others express dissatisfaction with the interpretation of this traditional work.
