Lekrings beats Rubene in season's first overtime thriller
Cēsis floorball club Lekrings came back from a three-goal deficit to beat Rubene 5:4 in overtime on the road. The winning goal was scored by Rūdolfs Dāvis Maklers.

In a men's Elvi floorball premier league match played in Kocēni, Cēsis-based club Lekrings fell behind by three goals against hosts Rubene but managed to fight back and secure a 5:4 overtime victory.
Rubene started strongly, opening the scoring early through Mārcis Brīvulis, who set up Jēkabs Keišs. Soon after, Bruno Beķeris capitalized on a Brīvulis passing error to level the score at 1:1, before Artis Matīss Fogels restored Rubene's lead with a precise shot.
In the second period, the hosts extended their advantage further, with Hugo Buhrots finding the net, while Toms Pētersons set up Kārlis Dūmiņš for his 60th league point. Although Edgars Puriņš failed to convert a penalty shot, he scored shortly afterward in combination with Olafs Zvīnis, narrowing the gap to 2:4 by the end of the second period.
Lekrings produced a strong final period. Olafs Zvīnis capitalized on a turnover by the hosts to pull the score closer, and Edgars Puriņš then converted on a third power-play attempt, marking his seventh consecutive game with a goal. The score remained level at the end of regulation, sending the match into overtime.
Just under three minutes into overtime, Rūdolfs Dāvis Maklers stole the ball from an opponent and scored the winning goal, securing Lekrings an extra point with a 5:4 victory.
Before this match, Rubene had won both of its previous games this season, while Lekrings had lost to Ulbroka before defeating a team from Talsi.
