Sybiha: Russia struck Ukrainian data centers to cut off information flow

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Russia attacked critical Ukrainian civilian infrastructure on September 23 that provides citizens access to life-saving information. He made the statement in a post on social network X.

According to Sybiha, the strikes targeted large Ukrainian data centers in an attempt to interrupt the flow of information. He stressed that rapid warnings about missile and drone threats are vital, as they save lives.

Sybiha noted that the target was not a military objective but infrastructure essential for the normal functioning of everyday life. He added that the occupiers also struck a college building in Kyiv while students were present on the premises.

The minister recalled that the Russian attack killed two people and left more than 40 injured.

Context amid UN General Assembly

Sybiha pointed out that these events are unfolding while the 81st session of the UN General Assembly is taking place in the United States, focused on peace efforts and diplomacy to end the war.

He said that since Russia is failing to achieve its goals on the battlefield, it is seeking new ways to destabilize life in Ukraine and terrorize civilians. According to the minister, strengthening sanctions pressure and increasing the number of missile interceptors is the only way to stop this terror.
