Sybiha: After drone strike on Pavlohrad, Ukraine urgently needs more air defense systems
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called Russia's drone strike on Pavlohrad deliberate terror against civilians and urged partners to immediately provide more air defense systems and tighten sanctions.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on social media platform X that Russia's drone strike on the city of Pavlohrad in Dnipropetrovsk region was a deliberate act of terror against civilians, aimed at wearing Ukraine down and forcing it into concessions.
According to him, on September 10 Russia struck shopping centers in the city center in broad daylight, killing at least five people and wounding 67, including eight children.
A deliberate tactic
Sybiha stressed that Russia systematically targets places where people gather, specifically in broad daylight, to increase casualties and spread fear. He said this happens because Moscow still has enough missiles, drones, components and funds, along with a sense of impunity.
The minister noted that partner capitals no longer have time for another round of concern and deliberation, since the weapons needed to stop the terror and the solutions to wear down Russia's war machine already exist.
Call for concrete action
Sybiha said Ukraine now needs additional air defense systems and interceptors. He called for sanctions to target Russian weapons production and the supply chains sustaining it, as well as for cutting off the revenues that finance this terror.
The strike on the Pavlohrad shopping center occurred on the afternoon of September 10. Five deaths and 67 injuries have been reported so far, including eight children.
