Sibiha: Russia Violated Energy Truce Right After Its Announcement
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha says Russia breached the energy ceasefire by striking a thermal power plant in Kharkiv. US President Donald Trump had announced the truce shortly before.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Sunday that Russia has violated a ceasefire on energy infrastructure that US President Donald Trump had announced only hours earlier. The truce is meant to stop attacks on energy facilities in Russia's war against Ukraine, and the alleged breach raises questions about whether the arrangement can hold.
Strike on a Kharkiv power plant
Writing on the social platform X, Sybiha said he had briefed German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on the situation. According to him, Russia carried out a strike on Kharkiv's TEC-5, a combined heat and power plant, just a few hours before his post. The minister stressed that Russia broke the truce immediately after it was announced.
Sybiha also said Ukraine is ready for a full energy ceasefire if Russia stops attacking Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
Positions of Moscow and Kyiv
Russian authorities have so far not commented on Trump's statement about the supposed agreement between Moscow and Kyiv to immediately halt attacks on energy facilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, for his part, said Kyiv is prepared to stop its attacks if Moscow agrees to the ceasefire.
The source does not specify the exact terms or duration of the truce as announced by Trump, and it gives no details on damage or casualties from the reported strike.
