Latvia's Sietiņa places fifth in Diamond League final javelin event in Brussels

Latvian javelin thrower Sietiņa finished fifth at the Diamond League final in Brussels with a best throw of 59.26 metres, while China's Yang Zhili won the competition with 68.42 metres.

The women's javelin throw at the Diamond League final took place in Brussels, featuring six athletes, including Latvia's Sietiņa.

Sietiņa recorded her best result of 59.26 metres in her third attempt, which secured her fifth place overall. Her second throw reached 54.72 metres, while her first, fourth and fifth attempts were not valid. She chose to skip her sixth and final attempt.

Chinese athlete takes the win

The competition was won convincingly by China's Yang Zhili, who threw the javelin 68.42 metres. Japan's Haruka Kitaguchi took second place with a throw of 65.44 metres, while Colombia's Flor Denis Ruiz Hurtado finished third with 64.07 metres.

Serbia's Adriana Vilagoša also surpassed the 60-metre mark, throwing 62.22 metres to place fourth.

Norway's Sigrid Borge finished behind Sietiņa in the standings, with a best throw of 58.08 metres placing her sixth and last.
