In the Women's Super League (WSL), England's top women's football division, Chelsea won 6-0 away at Charlton and moved back to the top of the table on goal difference. The result matters in the title race, as Chelsea and Manchester City are both unbeaten and level on 22 points.

Chelsea's dominance

Nathalie Bjorn, Melvine Malard (twice) and Ellie Carpenter scored before the break, followed by goals from substitutes Aggie Beever-Jones and Giulia Dragoni, who netted her first for Chelsea. The team took 34 shots and had more than 70 per cent of possession. Charlton managed only one shot on target. Lauren James going off after 32 minutes was the one worry.

City and Arsenal

Manchester City beat London City Lionesses 2-1. Bunny Shaw rounded goalkeeper Mary Earps to score her ninth league goal of the season, and after the hosts equalised through a Fernandes header, Lauren Hemp restored City's lead 122 seconds later. London City had taken 18 shots by the 67th minute.

Arsenal drew with Aston Villa despite 27 shots, scoring only in the last five minutes. After eight games they have scored eight goals and conceded nine, though they are unbeaten in four.

Other games

Tottenham Hotspur beat Birmingham City 4-1 to end a three-game losing run. After London City's defeat, Spurs are just three points off third place, though nine points behind the leaders.

Liverpool lost 4-1 to West Ham, stretching their losing run in all competitions to five games. They have dropped below West Ham, and face Arsenal and then Brighton next. Brighton & Hove Albion beat Crystal Palace 2-1 after going behind.
