Signet Banka grants €4 million to develop SIA Agro-Kaķenieki

Signet Banka has granted €4 million in financing to SIA Agro-Kaķenieki, one of the largest agricultural enterprises in the Zemgale region, which operates in dairy farming and crop production in Kaķenieki, Annenieki parish, Dobele municipality.

Founded in 1998, the company farms roughly 2,500 hectares of land, growing grain and rapeseed for sale as well as feed for its own herd. Its livestock includes 1,620 head of cattle, of which 900 are dairy cows, producing around 10,000 tonnes of raw milk per year. Most of the milk is exported to Lithuania, while crop production is sold on the Latvian market. The company employs an average of 64 people annually.

Investment in modernization

Over the years, SIA Agro-Kaķenieki has invested in modernizing its operations, building and rebuilding barns, constructing a grain dryer and silage storage infrastructure, and improving herd quality by adding high-yield Holstein cattle.

Company board member Vasilijs Pravdivecs said the new financing will allow the company to continue implementing its long-term development plans and strengthen its operational efficiency. The company is run by its owner, Vasilijs Pravdivecs, together with his son Ēriks Pravdivecs.

Sector export growth

Signet Banka board member Ineta Done noted that agriculture remains one of the core sectors of Latvia's economy with significant export potential. She pointed to data showing that in 2025, export value in the product group including milk and dairy products, eggs and honey grew by 26%, or €135 million. Done said the sector's future competitiveness will increasingly depend on companies' ability to invest in modernization and more efficient production processes.
