According to the municipality, the incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Friday. Several young people, risking their health and lives and endangering the city's heating supply security, carried out unauthorized actions on the infrastructure. As a result, more than ten cubic meters of heat carrier at a temperature exceeding 65°C were released from the system.
The operational services of the company "Adven Latvija" responded immediately, arrived at the scene, and stopped further leakage. The State Police have been informed and are investigating.
The municipality calls on the involved youths to report themselves, emphasizing this would be a responsible step. At the same time, the municipality notes that the youths clearly have an interest in technical matters, so they are invited for a discussion to talk about the incident and explore opportunities to train as heat energy specialists. The municipality stresses that the sector needs new professionals who are eager to work with technology and infrastructure.
