International media camp for youth to focus on documentary film in Sigulda
In late August, 50 young people from Latvia and other Baltic states will gather in Sigulda for the international 'Young Media Sharks' media camp to learn documentary filmmaking, journalism and digital content skills. A preparatory masterclass with director Stanislavs Tokalovs already took place in Liepāja.
In late August, the town of Sigulda will host an international media camp called "Young Media Sharks," bringing together 50 young people aged 14 to 20 from Latvia and other Baltic countries.
Guided by recognized media industry professionals, participants will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills across several fields, including documentary filmmaking, film direction, journalism, and television and digital content production. The program also includes an introduction to using artificial intelligence tools in creative work.
Preparations for the camp
Ahead of the main event in Sigulda, several preparatory activities have already taken place in various Latvian cities. One of them was held in Liepāja, where director Stanislavs Tokalovs led a masterclass for young people on creating documentary films.
The camp's central theme is what it means to be young in Latvia today, a question participants plan to explore through the tools and language of documentary filmmaking.
