Sigulda hosts thousands of participants at the 36th Unity Cycling Race

Over the weekend, Sigulda once again became a gathering point for cyclists from across Latvia, as the town hosted the Unity cycling race, held this year for the 36th time.

The event, traditionally organized on the first weekend of September, brought together thousands of participants — some competing seriously, others simply choosing to enjoy an active day outdoors on two wheels.

Photographer captures the festive mood

Photographer Alens Opoļskis documented the race, capturing the participants' emotions and the overall atmosphere in Sigulda. More than 100 photographs were taken, showing both competitors and spectators who came to Sigulda to cheer on the cyclists or simply watch the event.

The photographs offer a glimpse into both the competitive spirit and the relaxed, festive mood that accompanies this cycling event every year. Anyone who was present in Sigulda on Sunday — whether as a participant or a spectator — may be able to spot themselves in one of the captured images.
