Two Amur tigers rescued from Klaipėda zoo find new home at Sigulda Zoo
Two male Amur tigers previously removed from Klaipėda Zoo over inadequate conditions have joined the animal family at Sigulda Zoo in Latvia. Visitors will likely be able to see them only after the tigers settle into their new surroundings.
Sigulda Zoo in Latvia has welcomed two new residents — male Amur tigers that arrived from Lithuania. The pair previously lived at Klaipėda Zoo, but were removed from there after it was found they were being kept in unsuitable conditions.
Following their removal from Klaipėda Zoo, the tigers were taken to a wildlife rescue centre, where they spent roughly a year. Only after that period did they continue their journey to their new home in Sigulda.
The zoo notes that the tigers now face a period of adjusting to their new environment. As a result, visitors will most likely only be able to see the two newcomers after some time, once the animals have settled in.
