Sikorski Advises Nawrocki on Discussing US Troop Presence and Ziobro Case with Trump

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has advised President Karol Nawrocki on key topics to address during his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump. Speaking at a press conference in Opole, Sikorski emphasized that the first priority should be securing a commitment to increase US military presence in Poland and on NATO's eastern flank, where he said the real threat lies.

"If a conversation between the presidents takes place, even informal, the first thing will be to confirm the promise to increase, although we don't know to what level, the American presence in Poland. In our opinion, it should be increased where it is truly needed, that is, on the eastern flank," Sikorski stated.

The second issue concerns former Polish Prosecutor General Zbigniew Ziobro, who is wanted in Poland on charges of misappropriating funds from the Justice Fund. Ziobro, currently in the United States under a journalist visa, is the vice-president of the main opposition party and a member of parliament. Sikorski called the situation unacceptable.

"We know that a person wanted under a warrant, suspect Zbigniew Z., is hiding in the United States. He should answer to the prosecutor for charges of embezzling funds from the Justice Fund. Between allies and countries with such excellent relations as Poland and the United States, there should be no manipulations with a journalist visa," he added.

Sikorski expressed hope that President Nawrocki will secure the cancellation of this visa. Earlier reports indicated that Nawrocki has been invited to Trump's 80th birthday celebration and is preparing two gifts for the occasion.
