Evika Siliņa, chairwoman of the board of the "New Unity" (Jaunā Vienotība, JV) party, has acknowledged that she does not rule out leaving her position at the head of the political force. The information was reported by Latvian Television (LTV).
Siliņa's statement comes after the party achieved a disappointing result in the 15th Saeima elections. The current JV leader indicated that the election outcome calls for reflection on her future role in the party's management and has not excluded the possibility of a leadership change in the near future.
Other possible changes within the party
Alongside Siliņa's statement, it has also been reported that another party representative, Krauze, is considering leaving politics entirely.
The reports suggest that the 15th Saeima election results have been a significant blow for "New Unity" and may lead to substantial changes in the party's top leadership in the near future. So far, no official decision on a leadership change has been made, and Siliņa continues to carry out her duties as board chairwoman.
Whether and when an actual change of leadership might take place within "New Unity" remains unknown for now. Further internal discussions on analyzing the election results and the party's future strategy are expected.
