Elderly Sillamäe resident loses €8,600 to phone scammers
A 79-year-old man from Sillamäe handed over €8,600 to a courier after being tricked over the phone by fraudsters.

A 79-year-old resident of Sillamäe has fallen victim to telephone scammers. According to a police report, the fraudsters contacted the man by phone and convinced him to hand over a large sum of money.
The victim, believing the scammers, transferred €8,600 in cash to a courier who came to collect it. The incident is the latest in a series of scams targeting elderly people in Estonia.
Police urge the public to be cautious and never give money or personal details to unknown callers.
