Šilovs reflects on five goals allowed as Canadiens stage comeback in OT thriller
The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Montreal Canadiens 6-5 in overtime after squandering a big lead, and goaltender Šilovs discussed the five goals he allowed and the team's performance.

The Pittsburgh Penguins secured a 6-5 overtime win over the Montreal Canadiens overnight, though the victory nearly slipped away after Pittsburgh built a commanding 5-1 lead during the game, only for the Canadiens to claw back and force extra time before the Penguins finally sealed it.
Penguins goaltender Šilovs stopped 20 of 25 shots he faced. Speaking afterward, he acknowledged that defending against Montreal is difficult given their skill, but stressed that getting the win was what mattered most.
Turning points
Šilovs said his team played a solid overall game, blocking numerous opposing shots while managing to score six goals themselves, which he noted required considerable effort. He added that he feels positive about the team's trajectory, saying continuous improvement in defensive play is the key to strong results going forward.
The game wasn't without difficult stretches, however. Šilovs noted that his team had a goal disallowed, after which Montreal began pressing harder and was awarded a power play following what he described as a questionable penalty call — a moment that shifted the flow of the game. During that span, the Canadiens scored their fourth and fifth goals, which Šilovs admitted did not feel good. Still, he expressed relief that the team managed to regroup and come away with the overtime win.
The Penguins will next play on the night of October 6, facing the Winnipeg Jets.
