Meteorologists Warn: Week to Begin with Rain and Storms
The week in Latvia will start with rain, thunderstorms, and strong wind gusts, but the weekend is expected to bring warmer and calmer weather.
Monday will bring mixed weather across Latvia. Clouds will cover the sky in many areas, but the sun will appear in some places. According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, rain is expected at night in the western and central regions, while during the day precipitation will spread to larger areas, with heavy showers and thunderstorms possible in spots.
A light to moderate south to southwest wind will blow, becoming gusty during thunderstorms. From the afternoon, the wind in the west will shift to west-northwest, with gusts reaching 15-17 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will range from +14 to +18°C, while daytime highs will be +22 to +27°C, cooler in the west at +18 to +21°C.
Tuesday and Wednesday will see alternating sun and clouds, with occasional rain. Tuesday may bring thunderstorms and heavy downpours in places. The wind will remain light to moderate from the west and southwest, still gusty on the coast on Tuesday, and with sharp wind gusts during thunderstorms. Night temperatures will drop to +11 to +16°C, in the east on Wednesday night as low as +10°C, while daytime temperatures will reach +18 to +22°C.
Toward the end of the workweek, the weather will become warmer and calmer. Sun will appear more frequently, and the wind will be lighter. Rain clouds will be observed only locally. Over the weekend, cumulonimbus clouds will form again, bringing thunderstorms to some areas. According to current forecasts, Friday could be the driest and hottest day of the week, with the thermometer exceeding +25°C almost nationwide.
