Latvian disc golfer Klezberga claims victory at US Pro Tour playoff event

Latvian disc golfer Sintija Klezberga delivered a strong performance in the United States on Sunday, winning the Disc Golf Pro Tour playoff tournament. Her path to victory was far from straightforward: after the first two competition days she sat in fourth place at four strokes under PAR, trailing the leaders by three strokes.

Format changed due to wind

Strong winds forced organizers to adjust the event, cutting the number of rounds from four to three. The decisive final round, played in windy and rainy conditions, turned out to be Klezberga's breakthrough moment — she managed to overtake her rivals and secure the overall win despite the difficult weather.

A convincing finish

Klezberga finished the tournament at five strokes under PAR. Finland's Eveliina Salonen and American Holyn Handley shared second place at one stroke under PAR. A total of 39 athletes competed in the women's professional division, reflecting strong competition at the event.

A successful season

The win adds to what has already been a strong season on the Pro Tour for Klezberga, who has repeatedly finished in the top ten and previously claimed a second-place finish this year. Sunday's triumph marks a significant highlight in her season and underscores the competitiveness of Latvia's representative on the international disc golf stage.
