Percussionist Sonya Misinya on victory, stress, and future plans

Sonya Misinya, a percussionist who won Latvia's national selection „Young Virtuoso” in May, performed at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Armenia in early June, where she placed second at the international competition „Eurovision for Young Musicians”.

In an interview on Radio Naba's program „KŪL”, the musician revealed that after her national victory, she was flooded with doubts: „In the first seconds after winning, various thoughts flashed through my mind: am I really that person, am I truly capable of such a thing? Maybe I should quickly pass this opportunity to someone else who would handle it better?”

She discussed how the idea to participate in the national selection came about, how she manages anxiety in crucial moments, and what her future creative plans are. Misinya emphasized that the real fun begins backstage – focusing on the joy music brings, not on competition.
