Latvian international striker Dario Šits is set to return to the Dutch second division, joining FC Dordrecht on loan for the upcoming season. The 22-year-old, who is under contract with Italian Serie A side Parma, will have the option for Dordrecht to make the move permanent.
Last season, Šits played for Atletico Madrid's second team, competing in the Spanish third division. Due to injuries and health issues, he appeared in only 20 matches, mostly as a substitute. Prior to that, he was loaned to Helmond in the Dutch second division, where he scored six goals and provided three assists in 20 games. He missed the end of that season due to a knee injury.
In September 2023, while on loan at SPAL in Italy's Serie C, Šits tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his first match and missed the remainder of the season. He joined Parma in 2021 from Metta. During two seasons in Serie B, he made five appearances without scoring, plus one cup game, but mostly featured for the U-19 team in the Primavera 2 A championship.
For the Latvian senior national team, Šits has scored two goals in 12 appearances and has represented Latvia at all youth levels. Dordrecht finished tenth in the Dutch second division last season.
