Šits secures permanent move to Dordrecht
Dutch club Dordrecht has bought out the contract of Latvian forward Roberts Šits from Italy's Parma and extended his deal until 2028, ending his loan spell there.
Dutch football club Dordrecht has completed a permanent transfer for 22-year-old Latvian forward Roberts Šits, buying out his contract from Italian side Parma and extending the agreement until 2028. Šits had previously been on loan at the Dutch club.
So far this season, the striker has scored one goal and provided two assists in five matches.
Recent seasons
Last season Šits played for Atletico Madrid's reserve team in Spain's third tier, but injuries and health issues limited him to just 20 appearances, mostly coming on late in matches.
Before that, he was loaned to Dutch second-tier club Helmond, where he scored six goals and added three assists in 20 games, though a knee injury ended his season early. In September 2023, while on loan at Italian Serie C club SPAL of Ferrara, Šits tore his knee's cruciate ligament in the very first round of matches and missed the rest of that season.
Šits joined Parma in 2021 from Metta. Over two seasons in Serie B he made five appearances without scoring, plus one appearance in the Italian Cup, spending most of his time with the club's U-19 side in the Primavera 2 A championship.
For Latvia's national team, Šits has scored two goals in 12 appearances and has also represented various Latvian youth national teams.
Dordrecht finished tenth in the Dutch second division last season and currently sit 17th after eight rounds this season.
