Arnis Kaktiņš, director of the SKDS research center, told the LETA news agency that he would not be surprised if overall voter turnout in these Saeima elections turned out to be lower than in previous elections.

Kaktiņš emphasized that such a scenario — a decline in voter turnout compared with the previous election cycle — would not in itself be unexpected. He did not cite specific figures or percentages, offering instead a general assessment of a possible trend.

SKDS is one of Latvia's best-known centers for social and political research, regularly conducting surveys on voters' views and expected behavior in elections. Comments from its director are often used as a reference point when assessing the public's political engagement and level of interest in ongoing political processes.

Voter turnout is traditionally regarded as one of the key indicators reflecting public engagement with, and trust in, the democratic process. Fluctuations in turnout from one election to the next can stem from various factors, including public interest in the specific vote, the political situation in the country, and the general public mood.

Kaktiņš's assessment suggests that experts see no particular grounds to expect this election's turnout to significantly exceed that of previous elections, but also that a lower figure would be regarded as a perfectly natural and expected outcome rather than an anomaly requiring further explanation or raising concern among political observers.
