"Skelya" regiment rescues 21 soldiers from encirclement in combat operation
Ukraine's 425th Assault Regiment "Skelya" carried out a combat operation to evacuate 21 soldiers of the 159th Brigade who had spent over 10 months on the front line without rotation.
Fighters of Ukraine's 425th Separate Assault Regiment "Skelya" have rescued 21 soldiers of the 159th Separate Mechanized Brigade from encirclement, according to video footage released by the regiment.
According to the information provided, the 159th Brigade servicemen had spent more than 10 months holding front-line positions without being rotated out. This prolonged deployment without relief eventually left them surrounded by enemy forces, in a position from which breaking out on their own was practically impossible.
Rescue operation
The command of the "Skelya" regiment planned and carried out a dedicated combat operation to evacuate the encircled servicemen. To reach their comrades, the regiment's fighters had to engage in direct combat and clear a path through which the surrounded 159th Brigade groups could escape.
As a result of the operation, 21 servicemen were successfully evacuated from the combat zone. During the assault, "Skelya" fighters also destroyed a number of Russian positions and captured several occupying troops.
The episode illustrates the strained conditions faced by some Ukrainian units on certain sections of the front, where extended deployments without rotation can escalate into critical situations requiring dedicated rescue missions.
