Javelin thrower Patriks Gailums wins bronze at European Championships

Latvian javelin thrower Patriks Gailums won a bronze medal at the European Championships, marking the first major medal of his career. In an interview with Latvian Television, he spoke about the tense wait for results and his path back from a serious injury two years ago.

Latvia's javelin throwing tradition continues its recent run of success at major international competitions. Last year, Anete Sietiņa won silver at the World Championships, and now Patriks Gailums has claimed bronze at the European Championships.

Speaking to Latvian Television, Gailums described the tense anticipation he felt while waiting for results after his qualification group had competed. He called the medal the first culmination of this kind in his career.
