Škoda Karoq Reaches One Million Units Produced
Czech automaker Škoda has achieved a major production milestone with the one-millionth Škoda Karoq rolling off the line at its Kvasiny plant.
Škoda Auto has celebrated a new production record as the one-millionth Škoda Karoq was built at its plant in Kvasiny. The anniversary vehicle, produced in mid-July, is finished in Graphite Grey and is powered by a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine producing 150 horsepower.
The Škoda Karoq debuted in 2017, replacing the Yeti model. This compact SUV is built on the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform and was designed to compete in one of Europe's most popular vehicle segments. Since its launch, it has become one of the brand's best-selling SUVs and is currently sold in approximately 60 countries.
Customers can choose from a range of petrol and diesel engines, as well as front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The majority of buyers (73%) prefer the automatic DSG transmission, while 27% still opt for a manual gearbox. The largest markets include Germany, the Czech Republic, and the United Kingdom, where the Karoq is valued for its practicality, extensive equipment, and competitive pricing.
After a facelift in 2021, the model gained updated styling, more efficient engines, and the latest driver assistance systems. The next-generation Karoq is expected to arrive around the 2027/2028 model year, retaining internal combustion engine options while incorporating more advanced technology and even more efficient powertrains.
