Chimney Sweep Urges Timely Heating System Maintenance for Safety
With heating season approaching, a certified chimney sweep and a fire safety official recommend early inspection and cleaning of heating systems and chimneys to reduce fire risks.

Although the start of the heating season is still a couple of months away, experts stress that maintenance of heating systems and chimneys should not be delayed. Certified chimney sweep Māris Bambis, speaking on the program "How to Live Better," emphasized that early preparation is key to protecting oneself and one's property. He was joined by Iveta Uka, head of the Fire Safety Regulations Division of the State Fire and Rescue Service's Fire Safety Supervision Department, who reminded that regular maintenance significantly reduces the likelihood of fires. Statistics show that many winter fires are caused by neglected or postponed heating system upkeep. To avoid last-minute rushes and hazards, residents are encouraged to check the technical condition of their heating equipment and chimneys now.
