Slate partners with Smarties to offer candy-colored wraps for its electric trucks
US electric truck maker Slate has teamed up with candy brand Smarties to offer six pastel wrap colors for its bare-bones truck. Pricing hasn't been announced, but the wrap can be added as an option before delivery.

Slate, the electric truck maker whose model stands out for its low base price and minimal equipment, has partnered with candy brand Smarties to offer six pastel colors that owners can wrap their trucks in. The deal gives buyers a way to personalize the vehicle without buying a pre-painted one.
Six colors named after candy flavors
The shade names come from the flavors of the original candy rather than the actual hue. They are Strawberry (green), Pineapple (yellow), Orange (more of a beige), Grape (lavender), Cherry (pink) and Blue Raspberry (light blue).
Slate sells its trucks in a flat grey, but the body panels are prepared for wrapping in any shade a buyer wants.
Extra accessories included
The company has already worked with crayon maker Crayola to offer wraps in five of its branded colors. As with that partnership, the Smarties deal comes with added extras: a Smarties-branded Slatelet (a charm for the key fob), a Smarties-branded vent charm and a Smarties logo on the rear gate.
Pricing and ordering
The cost of the wraps has not been announced. Buyers can add a wrap as an option ahead of their delivery date.
Engadget's Tim Stevens has already driven the Slate EV. According to the outlet, the truck rides low enough that pedestrians are visible and produces 181 horsepower, which makes it small and slow by modern American standards, though the focus is on practical functionality.
