Murder Suspects Identified: One Is Current Ukrainian Intelligence Officer
Investigative journalists have revealed the identities of two men detained for the murder of Anastasia Berezovska, who was wanted by Interpol for an assassination attempt on sanctioned Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaev in Monaco. One suspect is an active employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine.

Journalists from the "Schemes" project (Radio Free Europe) have identified the two men arrested on suspicion of murdering 39-year-old Anastasia Berezovska, who was wanted by Interpol for her alleged involvement in an attempted assassination of sanctioned Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaev in Monaco.
One of the detainees is Vladyslav Reut, a 33-year-old native of Zhytomyr, who currently serves in the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense. Earlier media reports had mistakenly named his brother Yevhen, but according to two independent sources, the suspicion was filed against Vladyslav. Reut is a graduate of the Faculty of Law at Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics. Since 2022, he is believed to have served in military unit A2772 of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine. His father and brother have declined to comment.
The second suspect is a 49-year-old native of Uman, who worked in the police of Kyiv Oblast until 2020. Journalists are withholding his name pending official disclosure. Tags in his mobile phone include references to "OPV UKR," suggesting a previous role in the Criminal Investigation Department of the police, and "Kontr VB." Database leaks also indicate he may have been a member of the "Right Sector." According to two sources familiar with the case, he may be a current or former employee of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
Berezovska herself was a native of Zhytomyr. After the full-scale invasion began, she moved to Germany, where police in Frankfurt later searched her apartment and seized her car. On July 1, she returned to Ukraine, and a few days later her body, with gunshot wounds, was found buried near Kyiv. According to law enforcement sources, she had been outside Ukraine from March 22, 2025, to July 1, 2026.
On June 29 at around 9:00 p.m., an explosion in Monaco injured three people, two of them critically. Media reported that the victims were Yermolaev and his family. After the blast, a large-scale manhunt began. It was initially believed the suspect was a man who had fled to France. Later, journalists discovered the suspect was a woman who may have disguised herself as a man. The Monaco investigation is reportedly considering the involvement of the SBU. On July 3, Interpol issued an international wanted notice for Berezovska.
The National Police, SBU, HUR, and the Prosecutor General's Office detained two individuals on suspicion of Berezovska's murder. Investigators believe they may also be linked to the Monaco assassination attempt, as they allegedly made multiple transfers to Berezovska's cryptocurrency and bank accounts.
