Russian forces in Slobozhanshchyna rely on small infantry groups to probe Ukrainian defenses
Joint Forces spokesman Viktor Tregubov says Russian troops in the Slobozhanshchyna sectors are using small and even ultra-small infantry groups to seek gaps between Ukrainian positions, with signs that Russian resources on key sectors may be running low.
Viktor Tregubov, spokesman for Ukraine's Joint Forces grouping, said Russian troops are continuously attempting to exploit gaps in Ukrainian defenses along the Slobozhanshchyna sectors using small infantry groups, according to Ukrinform.
He said this pattern is most pronounced in the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, and is also seen in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna sector. Russian infantry groups are trying to move into areas without direct Ukrainian troop control, including gaps between Ukrainian positions, and to entrench themselves there.
Groups shrinking in size
According to Tregubov, Russian forces are gradually reducing the size of these groups to make them less noticeable. He also noted that heavy equipment is not being used on a mass scale in these sectors at present.
The number of combat clashes on the main sectors has slightly declined compared to the previous period.
Possible signs of resource depletion
The spokesman said the current situation should not be seen as a pause in fighting, but rather as a period in which Russian forces are somewhat depleting their resources on Ukraine's main frontline sectors. He specified that this applies particularly to the Kupiansk and Southern Slobozhanshchyna sectors, where the trend is most evident.
