Slovenia’s GenePlanet secures strategic investment from Lauxera
Ljubljana-based genomics platform GenePlanet has attracted investment from health-tech investor Lauxera Capital Partners, while existing backer BlackPeak Capital has partially exited but kept a meaningful stake.
GenePlanet, a genomics and laboratory platform based in Ljubljana, has secured strategic investment from Lauxera Capital Partners, an investor specialising in health technology. The company delivers advanced genetic testing and next-generation sequencing (NGS) services to customers worldwide.
Following the transaction, existing investor BlackPeak Capital has partially exited its position in GenePlanet. Nevertheless, BlackPeak retains a significant shareholding in the Slovenian company. The deal structure suggests that the previous investor still believes in the company’s future growth while making room for a new strategic partner.
According to the company’s statement, there is now a real chance to become a unicorn. This goal reflects ambitions to significantly increase the company’s value and strengthen its position in the genetic testing market. The investment signals growing interest in personalised medicine and genetic services, which have become increasingly important in healthcare in recent years.
GenePlanet operates on a global scale, and its laboratory platform offers a broad range of genetic analyses. As a dedicated health-tech investor, Lauxera Capital Partners brings not only financial resources but also industry experience that could help the company expand its operations and improve its technological capabilities.
The investment marks a notable milestone for Slovenia’s biotech ecosystem, demonstrating that regional companies are able to attract international capital in advanced technology sectors.
