On Thursday morning, a severe traffic accident took place on the Tallinn Highway involving two heavy trucks. According to "Degpunktā", one truck crashed into another that was turning off the highway. The driver of the rear vehicle had to be cut out of the truck with the help of firefighters.
Both trucks had arrived in Latvia from Poland. Another Polish truck driver stopped at the scene to assist the driver involved in the collision.
Victim
The injured party is the driver of the rear cargo van, a man approximately 62 years old. His speed at the moment of impact was about 80 km/h. The accident is believed to have been caused by inattention. After being freed from the vehicle, the man was taken to hospital in moderate condition.
