Smart, the joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and China's Geely, has released information about its latest model, the Smart #2. This two-seat electric city car will enter the European market at a price below €22,500. It is positioned as the successor to the iconic Fortwo, maintaining the original compact concept.

The new Smart #2 measures only 2.79 meters in length and is equipped with a 35.7 kWh battery. The manufacturer claims a range of approximately 300 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. Moreover, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in less than 20 minutes, a notable achievement for a car of this size.

Initially, the Smart #2 will be produced in China, but the company has not ruled out moving production to Europe in the future if demand is sufficient. The largest market is expected to be Germany, followed by Italy, France, the UK, Spain, and Portugal.

It should be noted that Smart has significantly departed from its original compact car standards in recent years. The current lineup also includes the 4.7-meter crossover Smart #5 and the 4.91-meter hybrid sedan Smart #6 EHD, which launched in the Chinese market in early June.
