New low-rent apartment building opens in Smiltene
A new apartment building with 30 units has officially opened in Smiltene, with all apartments already claimed by prospective tenants. The building is described as one of the town's most attractive.
On Wednesday, September 23, a newly built low-rent apartment building was officially opened in Smiltene. The building is located at Pļavas Street 3, near the intersection of Raiņa Street and Audēju Street, and has received its occupancy permit.
About the building
The four-story building is described as potentially one of the most attractive apartment buildings in Smiltene. It contains 30 new, modern, energy-efficient apartments.
Strong demand from residents
The apartments are intended for residents of Smiltene municipality. Even before the official opening, tenants had already signed up in queue order for all 30 units. In total, the Smiltene municipal government received 50 applications, meaning demand nearly doubled the number of available apartments.
The new building forms part of the municipality's effort to provide residents with accessible, lower-cost rental housing.
