Smiltene introduces temporary traffic changes on Daugavas Street
Since the start of this week, Smiltene has introduced traffic and pedestrian movement changes on a section of Daugavas Street between Baznīcas Square and Krāsotāju Street due to planned road resurfacing works. Both pedestrians and drivers face temporary restrictions.
The Smiltene municipal council has announced new traffic and pedestrian movement rules on a section of Daugavas Street, between Baznīcas Square and Krāsotāju Street, effective since the start of this week.
Restrictions for pedestrians and drivers
Pedestrians are barred from using the sidewalk adjacent to the street — specifically the sidewalk on the right side of the road when heading in the direction from Baznīcas Square. Drivers, meanwhile, are prohibited from parking vehicles along this section of the street. In addition, road users should expect brief traffic disruptions while construction equipment is being moved through the area.
Reason for the changes
According to the municipality, the traffic reorganization is linked to previously planned road resurfacing works. These works include milling of the existing asphalt concrete surface, construction of new mineral material structural layers, and laying of new asphalt on the affected section of Daugavas Street.
Residents of Smiltene and other road users are urged to take the restrictions into account to avoid inconvenience while traveling on foot or by vehicle through the area.
