With only about a month and a half left until the new school year starts, several educational institutions in Smiltene municipality are urgently trying to fill teaching vacancies.

Smiltene Secondary School is looking for a deputy principal for education (methodological work), a Latvian language teacher for grades 4–6, a French teacher for grades 5–6, and a German teacher for grades 5–6. Principal Inguna Kondratjeva explained that the Latvian teachers have retired, the French teacher decided to work in non-formal education, and the German teacher accepted another offer. The deputy principal position is newly created to organize methodological work and oversee all three school buildings. The school also needs a facilities manager. Applications are due by July 19.

Blome Primary School invites applications for an English teacher for grades 3–5, a computer science teacher for grades 4–9, and a sports and health teacher for grades 7–9. Principal Liene Šverna noted that computer science has been a challenge throughout the school year; a teacher applied in the spring but wants to work in Riga. The English teacher, a local from Smiltene, primarily works at Valmiera State Gymnasium, where her workload is increasing. Deadline: July 15.

Palsas Primary School in Palsmane is seeking a principal for a full-time permanent position. The current principal, Inga Auga, is leaving voluntarily, with her last working day on August 21. Candidates must apply by July 28.
