1192 People Have Changed Their Name or Surname This Year
The Ministry of Justice reports that 1192 people have changed their given name or surname so far this year, with the total likely to surpass previous years.

According to data provided by the Ministry of Justice, 1192 individuals have changed their first name or surname this year up to July. For comparison, last year there were 2268 decisions on name or surname changes, while the year before that saw 2193 decisions.
The ministry notes that based on the first half of the year, the total number of name and surname changes this year may exceed previous years' figures. Changing one's name, surname, or nationality record is only permitted in cases stipulated by law, and each application is evaluated individually according to legal requirements.
