Finland sees more business closures than openings in Q2
Finland registered 10,781 new businesses in the second quarter of 2026, while 12,013 companies ceased operating, according to Statistics Finland.

Statistics Finland has reported that 10,781 new companies were registered in the country during the second quarter of 2026, while 12,013 companies shut down over the same period. As a result, closures exceeded new registrations by 1,232.
Compared with the second quarter of last year, the number of new businesses fell by roughly 1,600, while the number of closures rose by about 1,200.
Sector differences
In trade and manufacturing, closures were roughly twice as numerous as new openings. The number of new businesses declined in nearly all sectors compared with the same period last year, with two exceptions: information and communications, and real estate operations, where business formation did not drop.
