Electric cars captured 62% of Finland's new car market in September
Fully electric vehicles made up 62% of all newly registered passenger cars in Finland in September, marking a sharp year-on-year rise, while petrol car registrations declined.

Finland's statistics office reported on Tuesday, October 6, that fully electric cars accounted for 62% of all passenger cars registered for the first time in the country during September.
A total of 4,338 electric vehicles were registered during the month, a 67% increase compared to the same month a year earlier. Overall, 6,984 new passenger cars were registered in Finland in September, up 16% from September 2025. As a result, electric vehicles accounted for nearly two-thirds of all new passenger cars sold.
Petrol car registrations fall
Meanwhile, the number of newly registered petrol-powered cars dropped by 17% year-on-year, falling to 1,737 vehicles.
Year-to-date figures
From January through September, Finland registered 56,932 new passenger cars in total, 6% more than during the same period last year.
